Book Review: The Guest List by Lucy Foley

Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Yesterday, I finished The Guest List by Lucy Foley and OMG, it was so good! I thought I would do a book review because part of my summer and 2020 goals are to read more! This is a great way to keep me accountable!

P.S. No spoilers here!

Summary: The Guest List is about a wedding that takes place on a remote island. Jules and Will are the perfect couple. They have a magnetic energy. Will is a charming celebrity and Jules is a driven magazine editor. Throughout the wedding weekend, readers learn more about the so-called happy couple from the perspectives of the bridesmaid, best man, plus one, and wedding planner. A dark and twisted plot unfolds before the readers eyes. This thriller will keep you on your toes and have you dying to figure out what happens at the end.

Rating: 8/10

Review: I gave this book at 8/10 because it was a thriller that kept me guessing yet there were some slow parts. I had a hard time getting into it at first. There was more than once where I thought about putting it down. However, after reading the first 50 pages (which is always a good rule of thumb), I was hooked.

The character development in this book is amazing. Lucy Foley did an amazing job of connecting each character to the plot. Her writing draws in the reader and makes the reader want to learn more about each character. She also gives you small clues at the end of each chapter.

In this book, each chapter is from the point of view of a different character. Sometimes, I think this can be confusing and I did feel this way at the beginning. But once you figure out how the characters are connected, you see why Lucy Foley decided to write the book this way. It also helps support a dark and twisted plot!

This is my first book review so I used this list to help me. I didn’t include everything on the list though. If you have any book recommendations, leave them below! What books have you been reading?
